As of the end of August 2023, the number of hotels certified by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism reached 20,168, with a total room capacity of 1,781,377 places. Let’s explore which provinces in Turkey make it to the top 10 in terms of room capacity.
According to calculations by Turizmdatabank based on data from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Antalya boasts the highest number of operating hotels, with a total of 2,492. These hotels offer a combined capacity of 612,000 places.
Coming in second in terms of room capacity is Istanbul. While there are more hotels in Istanbul compared to Antalya (2,835), the total number of beds available is slightly lower, at 239,000.
The resort provinces of the Aegean region in Turkey follow closely. In the province of Mugla, there are 2,618 hotels with a total capacity of 216,000 places. In Izmir, another province in the region, there are 1,680 hotels with a total capacity of over 80,000 places. Lastly, in Aydin, another Aegean province, there are 462 hotels with 55,000 places.
Also making it to the top 10 in terms of room capacity in Turkey are the provinces of Balikesir, Ankara, Mersin, Nevsehir, and Canakkale.
