Marriott International has announced plans to open the Cape Town Edition complex in 2026, marking the debut of the luxury Edition brand on the African continent.
The project will include a 142-room hotel and six private residences located on the Victoria & Albert Waterfront, one of the city’s most prestigious and vibrant districts. From the complex, guests and residents will enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain, and Lion’s Head.
Architectural design is led by the Shanghai-based studio Neri & Hu, working in collaboration with local design firm StudioMAS. The development aims to blend international contemporary aesthetics with a strong sense of place rooted in Cape Town’s natural and cultural landscape.
The Cape Town Edition will feature a rooftop bar, spa, swimming pool, multiple restaurants, and conference facilities, positioning the property to serve both leisure and business travelers at the upper end of the market.
Karim Cheltout, Senior Vice President for Development at Marriott International in the Middle East and Africa, noted that the signing of the agreement with V&A Waterfront Holdings represents an important milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy across Africa.
