Marriott International Debuts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with 2 Hotels in Kinshasa

Marriott International has officially entered the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the opening of two hotels in the capital, Kinshasa. The launch of Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa and Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa marks the company’s first presence in the country and a significant expansion of its footprint in Central Africa.

Both properties are operated by SARV Management LLC and are located in Kinshasa, a fast-growing мегacity with an estimated population of 17 million, serving as the country’s political, economic, and commercial hub.

Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa

The 88-room Protea Hotel by Marriott Kinshasa is situated in one of the city’s most prestigious districts, close to the Congo River and surrounded by government institutions, corporate headquarters, and high-end shopping centres.

Guest facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and the Marché 15 restaurant, which focuses on a mix of international and local cuisine. The hotel also features a lobby bar and a conference room measuring 56 square metres, catering primarily to business travellers and official delegations.

The property is positioned to serve both international visitors and regional travellers seeking modern accommodation in a secure and central location.

Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa

Four Points by Sheraton Kinshasa is located in the heart of the city’s business district and offers 134 guest rooms, each equipped with the brand’s signature Four Comfort Bed. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Amenities include the Lufira restaurant, the 83 Sky lounge bar, a 24-hour fitness centre, and a rooftop outdoor swimming pool offering panoramic views over Kinshasa. The hotel is also equipped with four conference rooms, providing a total of approximately 230 square metres of meeting and event space.

Designed with business and urban travellers in mind, the hotel combines functional comfort with contemporary design and elevated social spaces.

Strengthening Marriott’s African presence

The dual opening reflects Marriott International’s continued strategy of expanding across key African markets, particularly in capital cities with growing demand for internationally branded accommodation. Kinshasa’s role as a regional centre for government, business, and diplomacy positions it as a natural entry point for global hospitality brands.
