Belarus to Build High-Speed Rail to Minsk Airport by 2029

Belarus has launched construction of a new high-speed railway line connecting central Minsk with the National Airport Minsk, a project expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and support the development of the country’s largest industrial hub.

The route will include stops at Minsk, Gorodishche, the Great Stone Industrial Park, and the airport. The new line will extend from Minsk-Passazhirsky Station through Kolodishchi to Gorodishche, after which approximately 18 kilometers of new track will be built toward the airport. The total route length will be 41.8 kilometers, with high-speed electric trains expected to cover the distance in under 30 minutes.

Officials note that the rail infrastructure on this section will be built entirely from scratch, with the first high-speed trains expected to launch between 2028 and 2029.

Representatives of the Great Stone Industrial Park — a joint Belarusian-Chinese project — said the new transport link would “create a modern, high-speed connection that will further strengthen Great Stone’s role as a key logistics and investment center in the region.”

The industrial park was developed under an intergovernmental agreement between China and Belarus and envisions the creation of an international eco-city featuring manufacturing, administrative, and social infrastructure.

In 2024, Minsk National Airport served over 2.8 million passengers, underlining the importance of expanding transport access as Belarus looks to modernize its travel and logistics network.
