The United States has officially lifted sanctions on Belavia, the Belarusian national carrier, U.S. Presidential Envoy John Coale announced during a meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko, according to BelTA.
“I would like to declare here that we have lifted sanctions from Belavia officially. This is official,” Coale said. He added that the decision followed a meeting with former President Donald Trump and was approved by “all relevant departments and agencies,” including the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, and Treasury.
The announcement marks a significant shift in U.S.-Belarus relations and clears the way for Belavia to resume international operations that had been restricted under previous sanctions.
Details regarding the practical implications for Belavia’s flights and partnerships have yet to be released, but the move is expected to benefit both the airline and Belarus’ broader aviation sector.
