Accor has announced the signing of a new Mövenpick hotel in Adelaide, marking another milestone in the continued expansion of the premium hospitality brand across the Asia-Pacific region.
The new property, located on Waymouth Street in central Adelaide, forms part of Accor’s broader strategy to accelerate growth for Mövenpick, one of the company’s fastest-expanding global hotel brands.
Adelaide Hotel Undergoes Multi-Million-Dollar Transformation
The hotel has already undergone a significant multi-million-dollar refurbishment in recent years ahead of its transition into the Mövenpick brand.
Upgrades have included a complete redesign of guestrooms, the addition of new suites and family rooms, and the introduction of a modern restaurant and upgraded meeting facilities.
Additional improvements are planned over the coming months, including further corridor and guestroom enhancements designed to support the full Mövenpick conversion.
Accor said the project reflects Mövenpick’s flexible and conversion-friendly design philosophy, allowing existing hotels to transition efficiently into the brand while improving guest experience and operational performance.
Guestrooms Inspired By South Australian Landscapes
The redesigned interiors will take inspiration from some of South Australia’s most recognisable natural regions, including the Barossa Valley, Limestone Coast, Murray River and Flinders Ranges.
Guestrooms will feature abstract contemporary artworks inspired by these landscapes, alongside layered textures, warm tones and natural materials intended to create a strong sense of place.
The company said the design concept aims to combine local identity with the brand’s established premium hospitality style.
Mövenpick Continues Rapid Global Expansion
Founded in Switzerland in 1948 as a restaurant concept, Mövenpick has grown into an international hotel brand operating more than 140 properties across over 40 countries.
Accor said the brand continues to gain momentum globally, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region where hotel owners are increasingly seeking premium conversion-friendly brands with proven commercial performance.
The Adelaide signing follows continued regional growth plans for Mövenpick, including the upcoming opening of Mövenpick Singapore later this year.
According to Accor, the Singapore property is expected to become the largest Mövenpick hotel in the Asia-Pacific region, while additional projects remain under negotiation.
