The Shepherd Mayfair

The Shepherd Mayfair to Open in Early 2026, Reviving a Storied Corner of London

The highly anticipated Shepherd Mayfair, an 82-room boutique hotel in London’s Shepherd Market, has announced a new opening date set for the first quarter of 2026.

Born from a joint venture between Bain Capital and Orka Investments, the hotel will rise on the site of the former Park Lane Mews Hotel, transforming one of Mayfair’s most characterful enclaves into a destination that blends historic charm with refined modern luxury.

Designed by Buckley Gray Yeoman in collaboration with Timothy Shepherd of Shepherd&, the new property promises a seamless dialogue between classic Mayfair architecture and contemporary design sensibility. Its interiors will reflect timeless British craftsmanship while embracing subtle touches of modern flair.

At the heart of the hotel will be three distinctive F&B venues, each curated to evoke the spirit of the neighbourhood. Fayre, a British brasserie on the ground floor, will serve seasonal menus featuring local produce, offering an elegant but approachable all-day dining experience. The Lounge will be a relaxed social hub with artisan coffee, pastries, light lunches, and an extensive drinks list, complemented by a takeaway hatch for passersby in Shepherd Market.

For those seeking a more secretive experience, Teddy’s, the hotel’s late-night cocktail bar, will hide beneath the main floor — accessible via a discreet Market Mews entrance, secret staircase, or a lift from the lobby. The bar will channel a sense of old Mayfair glamour with classic cocktails and intimate ambience, appealing equally to Londoners and hotel guests.

Adjacent to the hotel, 36 & 37 Hertford Street Residences will feature 16 one- and two-bedroom homes, set within two reimagined Georgian townhouses. Designed by Albion Nord, the interiors will pay homage to 17th-century architects Robert Adam and Henry Holland, blending traditional detailing with contemporary elegance. Residents will also enjoy access to select hotel services, creating a seamless connection between private living and boutique hospitality.

The project, which forms part of the Elegant Hotel Collection, will be delivered by CIT Group and managed by Hamilton Pyramid Europe.

Robert Mangan, Operating Partner at Bain Capital, shared:
“Our vision for the project was to revive the original Mayfair mansion, taking inspiration from the rich heritage of Shepherd Market and its fascinating past, to deliver a luxury boutique hotel that resonates with the expectations of today’s market. The Shepherd Mayfair is a truly unique property and will be one of the neighbourhood’s final freehold hospitality and real estate projects, bringing a new offering to both Londoners and international visitors.”

Raoul Malhotra, Founder & Managing Director of Orka Investments, added:
“This project marks a rare and strategic investment in the heart of Mayfair – one of the last opportunities of its kind. This unique development will deliver a luxury hotel and 16 prime residences, breathing new life into this special corner of Mayfair. It exemplifies our long-term vision of honouring the rich history and fabric of the area, and creating value through regeneration in one of the world’s most sought-after addresses.”

Once complete, The Shepherd Mayfair will not only restore a piece of Mayfair’s architectural legacy but also reimagine it for a new era — a refined retreat where timeless design, local character, and modern hospitality converge.
