Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has officially launched a new direct route from Copenhagen (CPH) to Nuuk (GOH)—marking the first direct air connection between the two cities in over 20 years. The route opens up rare access to Greenland’s awe-inspiring Arctic landscape and deepens ties between Scandinavia and one of the world’s most remote and captivating destinations.
Greenland Is Calling: A Rising Travel Hotspot
Recently named one of National Geographic’s “Best of the World” destinations for 2025, Greenland is rapidly gaining global attention for its untouched nature, Indigenous culture, and adventure travel appeal.
SAS now adds this Arctic jewel to its summer route network—offering travelers a new way to explore one of the world’s last great wildernesses.
Route Details: SAS Brings Reliability to the Arctic
The new route will run three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) during the summer season:
Route Flight Monday, Wednesday, Friday
CPH → GOH SK1294 09:00 09:00 12:15
GOH → CPH SK1293 11:05 11:05 14:20
The service coincides with the opening of Nuuk’s new international airport, part of Greenland’s broader strategy to improve connectivity and tourism infrastructure.
A Collaborative Effort with Local Partners
The route was developed in close coordination with Air Greenland and other regional stakeholders. It aligns with SAS’s commitment to purposeful, long-term connectivity across the North Atlantic and reinforces Copenhagen’s role as the leading global hub for Scandinavia.
“This route reflects our ambition: to be a resilient, adaptable, and collaborative airline for the future,” said Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS.
“Whether traveling for family, work, or discovery, our role is to enable purposeful journeys, with respect and responsibility.”
Part of SAS’s Larger Strategy for Growth
This launch reflects SAS’s broader strategic focus on:
- Long-haul connectivity
- Premium customer experience
- Global partnerships, including SkyTeam and Air France–KLM
- Operational excellence (SAS is the world’s most punctual airline)
As SAS continues evolving into a future-ready premium carrier, routes like Nuuk position the airline at the crossroads of responsibility, exploration, and regional growth.
