SAS returns to India in 2026 with the launch of a new year-round route connecting Copenhagen and Mumbai, marking a major milestone in the airline’s intercontinental expansion. The new service, beginning June 2, 2026, will offer five weekly flights aboard an Airbus A330, bridging Scandinavia with one of the world’s most influential economic and cultural hubs.
This move not only reintroduces direct service to India after a 17-year hiatus but also strengthens Copenhagen Airport’s role as a northern European gateway for both leisure and business travelers heading to South Asia. With seamless connections to major cities in Scandinavia, Europe, and North America, the route will support growing global demand for travel between these key regions.
SAS President and CEO Anko van der Werff described the launch as a strategic step: “India is a key global market — both in terms of growing demand and economic importance. With this new route, SAS contributes to strengthening Copenhagen’s role as a global hub while supporting increased connectivity between India and Northern Europe, as well as between India and North America.”
Mumbai, often called the “City of Dreams,” is home to more than 20 million people and serves as the financial heart of India. Its vibrancy, diversity, and cultural depth make it a draw not only for business travelers but also for tourists in search of culinary experiences, heritage landmarks, and wellness escapes.
Flight times are carefully scheduled to offer smooth transfers across SAS’s extended network, including major long-haul destinations like New York, Boston, and Toronto. This will enable travelers from India to connect with Northern Europe and North America more efficiently than ever before.
The schedule includes five weekly flights between Copenhagen (CPH) and Mumbai (BOM):
SK969 departs Copenhagen at 13:10, arriving in Mumbai at 01:30 (+1) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
SK970 departs Mumbai at 06:00, arriving in Copenhagen at 11:45 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
