MEININGER Hotels is debuting in Spain with a new property in the heart of Barcelona’s bustling trade fair district. Slated to open at the end of 2025, the hotel will be directly opposite the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, one of Europe’s largest and busiest exhibition venues.

The new MEININGER Hotel will offer 162 rooms and 555 beds, designed to accommodate a wide variety of travelers—from solo adventurers to groups attending one of the more than 150 annual events at Fira Gran Via. With its mix of private and shared accommodations, the hotel stays true to the brand’s hybrid hospitality model, blending the comfort of a hotel with the flexibility and affordability of a hostel.

MEININGER’s choice of location is in line with its motto, “Step out and explore.” The site not only provides immediate access to major exhibitions and conferences, but also boasts excellent public transportation links, making it easy for guests to explore Barcelona’s many cultural and historic landmarks.

This launch is part of the company’s larger plan to expand across Europe. The brand, known for its practical design and traveler-friendly services, is actively preparing new openings in cities like Kiel, Tel Aviv, Strasbourg, and Edinburgh—marking a return to the UK market.

Ajit Menon, CEO of MEININGER Hotels’ parent company, has confirmed that the expansion will continue with a focus on strategic growth throughout the continent. Each new location is chosen to match the brand’s commitment to accessible travel and community-driven stays.
