Airlines Suspend Flights to Mogadishu, Somalia

Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, and flyDubai have suspended flights to Mogadishu, the Somalia capital. Departures from Mogadishu Airport are also not being carried out, as reported by Horseed Media.

The day before, the US Embassy in Somalia warned citizens about the threat of terrorist attacks in various areas of Mogadishu, including the airport. It announced the cancellation of “any movements of embassy personnel” on April 9.

According to reports from local media, the residence of the President of Somalia was shelled with mortars overnight. Three shells exploded near the palace. There is no information about the consequences. Military personnel are patrolling the streets of the city in armored vehicles, and additional checkpoints have been set up. There have been no official statements about this.

According to the Baidoa portal, militants from the terrorist organization “Al-Shabaab” recently captured several cities near Mogadishu.
