Hyatt Expands In Italy With Three New Hotels In Rome And Sicily

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is expanding its presence in Italy with three planned hotel openings in Rome and Sicily, adding 428 rooms and suites across the upper-upscale, lifestyle and luxury segments.

The new properties will strengthen Hyatt’s position in one of Europe’s most important travel markets and introduce two of the company’s brands to Italy for the first time.

The planned additions include Hyatt Regency Rome Central, Thompson Rome and Park Hyatt Taormina, with openings expected between 2026 and 2028.

Hyatt Strengthens Italy Portfolio

Hyatt currently operates six hotels across five brands in Italy, with properties in Milan, Venice, Rome, Florence and Sardinia.

Since 2019, the company has quadrupled the number of rooms in its Italian portfolio and continues to grow across Europe, where more than 40 hotels are scheduled to open in the coming years.

The expansion comes as Italy remains one of the continent’s strongest tourism markets. The World Travel & Tourism Council forecasts international visitor spending in Italy could reach €78 billion by 2035.

Hyatt Regency Rome Central To Open In 2026

Hyatt Regency Rome Central is expected to open at the end of the third quarter of 2026 near Rome’s Termini train station.

The 238-room hotel will mark the debut of the Hyatt Regency brand in Italy and is designed to serve both business and leisure travelers.

The property is expected to include a rooftop pool, Pool Bar and an Asian-inspired restaurant called Niroma.

Thompson Rome Will Bring Lifestyle Brand To Italy

Thompson Rome is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, introducing Hyatt’s Thompson Hotels brand to the Italian market.

The 69-room hotel will be housed in a repurposed heritage building near the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia.

Plans include three dining venues, including a sixth-floor Italian Riviera-inspired restaurant and rooftop cocktail bar.

Park Hyatt Taormina Planned For Sicily

Park Hyatt Taormina is expected to open in 2028 and will become the second Park Hyatt property in Italy after Park Hyatt Milan.

The planned 121-suite hotel will be located in Taormina, one of Sicily’s most prestigious leisure destinations.

The property is expected to feature private terraces, views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, locally inspired dining and a spa.

Italy Remains Key Growth Market

The three planned openings reflect Hyatt’s strategy of expanding in high-demand destinations through conversions and brand debuts.

For World of Hyatt members, the additions will create more opportunities to stay across key Italian cities and resort destinations.

With new properties in Rome and Sicily, Hyatt is broadening its appeal to business travelers, luxury guests and lifestyle-focused visitors seeking distinctive stays in Italy.
