The world’s most famous tennis tournament returns next week as Wimbledon gets underway at the All England Club in London on June 29.
Played on its iconic grass courts, Wimbledon remains the oldest Grand Slam event and one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. The tournament will once again bring together the world’s top players as they compete for one of tennis’ most prestigious titles.
Defending Champions Return
Men’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner returns as the defending champion after capturing his first Wimbledon title last year.
The Italian defeated Carlos Alcaraz in four sets in the championship match, establishing himself as one of the leading forces in men’s tennis.
On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek will attempt to defend the title she won in dominant fashion, defeating Amanda Anisimova without dropping a game in last year’s final.
Swiatek enters the tournament as one of the favorites once again, although world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka holds the top seed position.
Serena Williams Returns
One of the biggest storylines of this year’s tournament is the return of Serena Williams, who is set to compete in both singles and doubles.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion will make her first Wimbledon appearance in nearly four years.
Williams is also expected to team up with her sister Venus Williams in the doubles competition, creating one of the most anticipated partnerships of the tournament.
When Is The Wimbledon Draw?
The draw for the men’s and women’s singles and doubles tournaments will take place on Friday.
It will reveal first-round matchups and map out potential paths to the finals for the tournament’s leading contenders.
Sinner enters as the men’s top seed, while Sabalenka heads the women’s draw as the No. 1 seed.
