Alaska Airlines Announces Major Lounge Expansion Across Key Airports

Alaska Airlines is accelerating its premium travel expansion with a multimillion-dollar investment in new airport lounges and upgraded passenger facilities across several major hubs.

The carrier confirmed plans for a new flagship international lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport alongside additional lounge developments in Portland, Honolulu and San Diego.

Massive New Seattle Lounge Planned

The new global Alaska Lounge at Seattle’s C Concourse is scheduled to open in late 2027 and will become one of the airline’s largest premium passenger spaces.

According to Alaska Airlines, the lounge will cover more than 41,000 square feet across two levels and offer seating for approximately 700 guests.

The facility will include multiple premium bars, à la carte dining, shower suites and panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains.

Separate Areas For International Premium Travelers

The main level of the Seattle lounge will serve Alaska Lounge members, day-pass travelers and eligible first-class passengers.

The upper level will be reserved for international long-haul travelers, including Suites and lie-flat seat customers as well as eligible Atmos Titanium members flying internationally.

The project reflects Alaska Airlines’ broader strategy to strengthen its premium international offering as the carrier continues expanding long-haul operations.

Additional Lounges Coming To Other Cities

Alaska Airlines also announced a new lounge location in Portland, Oregon, which is expected to open during summer 2026.

Further expansion plans include an upgraded lounge in Honolulu and the airline’s first-ever lounge in San Diego, both currently scheduled to open in early 2028.

The investments come amid growing competition among US airlines to attract premium leisure and business travelers with upgraded airport experiences.

New Premium Check-In Experience Introduced

Alongside the lounge developments, Alaska Airlines has also opened a new premium check-in lobby at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

The dedicated Seattle Suites lobby provides Suites and Atmos Titanium customers with direct access to a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint.

The service is also available to immediate family members or up to two guests traveling on the same reservation.

Premium Services Expanding Across Alaska Network

Dedicated check-in lanes for Suites and Atmos Titanium members are also expected to launch soon at other Alaska Airlines hubs, including Anchorage, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The airline additionally plans to roll out similar premium check-in services internationally in Rome, Tokyo, Seoul, London and Reykjavik.

The expansion highlights Alaska Airlines’ continued push into the premium travel segment as carriers compete to improve airport services and long-haul passenger experience.
