St. Regis Debuts In Hungary With Landmark Budapest Opening

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has officially debuted in Hungary with the opening of The St. Regis Budapest, set within the historic Klotild Palace, one of the city’s most iconic architectural landmarks.

Located near the Danube and close to Budapest’s major attractions, the hotel brings new life to the Belle Époque building, introducing the brand’s signature service, rituals and refined hospitality to the Hungarian capital.

A Historic Palace Reimagined For Modern Luxury

Originally commissioned at the turn of the 20th century by Princess Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Klotild Palace is a Neo-Baroque landmark that once served as a ceremonial gateway to the city.

Recognised for its 48-metre tower and intricate architectural detailing, the UNESCO-listed building has been carefully restored, preserving its historic character while adapting it for contemporary luxury hospitality.

The hotel features 63 rooms and 39 suites, including the Klotild Tower Suite and a Presidential Suite spanning 169 square metres, complete with a private balcony overlooking the Danube, Elizabeth Bridge and the Citadella.

Design Inspired By Budapest’s Culture And The Danube

Interiors reflect the movement and light of the Danube River, with soft blue tones, fluid patterns and shimmering finishes throughout the property.

Design elements draw on Budapest’s artistic heritage, incorporating Art Nouveau influences, ceramic details inspired by the city’s thermal baths, and refined brass accents. A grand staircase at the entrance, designed as a vertical river of light, creates a striking focal point that blends historical references with contemporary design.

Guestrooms are designed to evoke the feel of a private theatre box, inspired by the city’s connection to opera, while maintaining a sense of comfort and understated elegance.

Dining Concepts And Signature Experiences

The hotel introduces several dining venues, including the St. Regis Bar, which features live music and bespoke cocktails such as the Crown Mary, a local interpretation of the brand’s iconic Bloody Mary.

99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant offers a refined Japanese dining experience, while Klotild Patisserie serves Hungarian and French-inspired pastries alongside artisanal coffee.

Guests can also experience St. Regis traditions such as Afternoon Tea and Champagne sabrage, reinforcing the brand’s heritage of celebration and social ritual.

Wellness And A New Chapter For Budapest Hospitality

The St. Regis Spa offers an intimate wellness retreat, featuring an indoor pool, hammam, Finnish sauna and treatment rooms, with therapies inspired by Budapest’s historic bathing culture.

Additional facilities include a modern fitness studio and a range of event spaces, from private salons to a grand ballroom setting for social and corporate gatherings.

With its blend of heritage architecture, contemporary design and signature service, The St. Regis Budapest marks a significant addition to the city’s luxury hotel landscape, positioning itself as a new destination for international travellers seeking both history and refinement.
