The Trump Organization is preparing to make its debut in the Maldives after signing a partnership with UK-based developer Dar Global to open the Trump International Hotel Maldives. The planned resort, set for completion by late 2028, will be located about 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, placing it within reach of the capital while offering the seclusion expected from a high-end Maldivian escape.
The project will feature roughly 80 beach and overwater villas, blending a traditional island aesthetic with the brand’s luxury positioning. For both partners, the development marks another step in their push toward expanding in key global destinations and exploring new methods of real estate investment.
Eric Trump, executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, said the Maldives project reflects a new direction for the brand. He highlighted plans to “redefine luxury in the region” while introducing an investment structure that he described as a significant innovation for the hospitality sector.
That innovation comes in the form of a tokenised hotel development program unveiled alongside the resort announcement. Unlike earlier models where tokens were attached to completed assets, this project opens token-based participation during the development phase. According to Dar Global, this represents a shift in how investors can engage with large-scale hospitality projects, giving them access and flexibility far earlier in the timeline.
For Dar Global CEO Ziad El Chaar, the venture is part of the company’s wider drive to integrate technology and luxury real estate. He said the tokenised structure aims to “transform how the world invests in hospitality,” positioning the model as a first of its kind in the global luxury market.
The partnership follows a period of accelerated collaboration between the two companies. In May, the Trump Organization and Dar Global announced the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Dubai, the first Trump-branded tower in the Middle East. The Maldives project continues that momentum, combining a high-profile destination with a financial structure built to appeal to both traditional investors and those interested in emerging digital investment models.
As plans progress, the Trump International Hotel Maldives is expected to join a portfolio that includes hotels, resorts, residences and golf properties in multiple countries. For Dar Global, it adds another signature project to a growing pipeline of luxury developments designed to blend high-end living with next-generation investment opportunities.
