TAP Air Portugal has unveiled the next generation of in-flight comfort with the introduction of its first aircraft featuring Airbus’ Airspace cabins. The A321neo, christened “António Sérgio”, completed its maiden commercial flight today from Lisbon to Warsaw, marking the beginning of a fleet-wide transformation that will see 20 aircraft equipped with the new cabins by 2029.
More Space, More Comfort
The Airspace design reimagines passenger experience with larger luggage compartments, customizable ambient lighting, and more inclusive facilities.
XL Bins: Offering 37% more volume, the new overhead compartments allow for vertical loading of up to eight carry-on bags per bin (compared to five previously). This translates to storage for 130 pieces on the A320neo and 194 on the A321neo.
Lighting: A dynamic LED system adapts the cabin atmosphere throughout different flight phases, enhancing comfort and reducing fatigue.
Accessibility: More spacious toilets now include Braille signage, making TAP’s cabins more inclusive for visually impaired travelers.
Passenger-Centric Features
Each seat on the new A321neo comes equipped with USB-A and USB-C ports, supporting today’s multi-device travelers. The redesigned cabin also features clean lines, modern finishes, and intuitive interfaces, emphasizing TAP’s commitment to providing a contemporary and accessible travel experience.
The “António Sérgio” accommodates 221 passengers:
102 in Business/Economy Extra
119 in Economy
Fleet Expansion by 2029
By the end of the decade, TAP will integrate 10 A320neo and 10 A321neo aircraft with the Airspace cabin, reinforcing its investment in passenger experience, efficiency, and sustainability.
