Mandarin Oriental to Open First Hotel in South Korea with Landmark Seoul Property in 2030

Mandarin Oriental has unveiled plans for its highly anticipated debut in South Korea with the opening of a new luxury hotel in Seoul in 2030. The project marks a milestone in the Group’s expansion across Asia, bringing its legendary hospitality to one of the continent’s most dynamic capitals.

The new Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will be located in the Central Business District, north of the Han River, within close reach of cultural landmarks, business hubs, and lifestyle destinations. With just 128 rooms and suites, the boutique-style property will offer an intimate, residential feel reminiscent of a private members’ club. The interiors will be crafted by acclaimed designer André Fu, blending refined modern elegance with subtle nods to Seoul’s cultural identity.

Dining will be a central highlight, with the 21st floor housing a destination restaurant offering sweeping city views. The 20th floor will feature three distinctive culinary concepts: an elevated international dining venue inspired by SOMM at Mandarin Oriental, The Landmark Hong Kong; a refined Chinese restaurant; and a high-end Korean Chef’s Counter designed as an immersive theatrical experience. At ground level, a bar, lounge, and The Mandarin Cake Shop will create vibrant meeting places for both guests and locals.

The property will also offer extensive event facilities, including a grand ballroom, flexible function spaces, and a private outdoor terrace, catering to both business gatherings and social occasions.

Wellness will take center stage at the hotel’s four-floor destination spa, conceived as a serene sanctuary inspired by Korea’s timeless healing traditions. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will feature a 25-meter swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, immersive art experiences, and specialized treatments themed around Traditional Healing, Future Bathing, K Beauty, Mind Reset, and Body Performance. Additional amenities will include a golf academy with simulators, a multiball court, a games room, and a dedicated kids’ club.

Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental, commented:
“Seoul is a dynamic cultural and economic hub and we are proud to be announcing our entry into this important market. Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will reflect our commitment to thoughtful growth, offering an experience that captures the essence of the destination while delivering the legendary service and design our guests expect.”

The project is being developed in partnership with Hanwha Group, which is leading the redevelopment of Seoul Station into a world-class hub for business and leisure. A spokesperson for Hanwha added:

“We are honoured to be partnering with Mandarin Oriental on what will be a defining hospitality address in Seoul. This partnership will help to elevate the entire redevelopment of Seoul Station, creating a dynamic hub with unparalleled accessibility across the city and country.”

With its bold design, curated dining experiences, and a spa concept rooted in Korean tradition yet elevated through innovation, Mandarin Oriental, Seoul is set to become a flagship luxury destination when it opens its doors in 2030.
