Mandarin Oriental Returns to Manila With New Luxury Hotel in Makati

Mandarin Oriental has announced its return to the Philippine capital with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Makati, Manila, scheduled for late 2026.

Located above Ayala Triangle Gardens in the heart of Makati, the new property marks the brand’s return to a city where it played a significant role in shaping Manila’s luxury hospitality landscape for nearly four decades.

The original Mandarin Oriental Manila operated from 1976 until 2014 and became one of the capital’s most recognised social and business gathering places. The new hotel aims to build on that legacy while introducing a contemporary interpretation of Filipino luxury for a new generation of travellers.

A Landmark Return to the Philippine Capital

Standing 98.7 metres above Ayala Triangle Gardens, the hotel occupies a prime position at the intersection of Makati Avenue, Ayala Avenue and Paseo de Roxas, placing guests at the centre of Metro Manila’s financial, cultural and lifestyle district.

Developed in partnership with Ayala Land, the property is located just minutes from Greenbelt’s luxury shopping and dining destinations, contemporary galleries, neighbourhood cafés and the popular Salcedo and Legazpi weekend markets.

Manila International Airport can be reached in approximately 15 minutes by car, providing convenient access to destinations across Asia, the Middle East and North America.

Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental, described the opening as an important milestone in the company’s Southeast Asia expansion strategy.

He said the Philippines represents one of the region’s most dynamic travel markets, combining rich cultural heritage, creativity and global ambition.

275 Rooms and Suites Inspired by the Philippines

The hotel will feature 275 guestrooms and suites designed to reflect the natural beauty of the Philippine landscape through the use of local materials, warm timber tones, woven textures and handcrafted details created by Filipino artisans.

Floor-to-ceiling windows will maximise natural light while offering views of Makati’s skyline and the surrounding parklands.

Accommodation has been designed with multigenerational travel in mind. Entry-level Deluxe Rooms begin at 50 square metres and include panoramic city views, walk-in wardrobes and spacious bathrooms with separate bath and shower areas.

Families will be able to choose from connecting rooms, Family Deluxe Rooms and larger suites designed for extended stays and group travel.

Guests staying in Club rooms and suites will receive access to the Mandarin Oriental Club Lounge as well as 24-hour butler service.

Dining Reflecting Manila’s Culinary Evolution

Mandarin Oriental Makati, Manila will introduce five distinct dining and bar concepts designed to celebrate both local and international flavours.

The culinary programme will include contemporary Cantonese cuisine, modern Filipino dishes and globally inspired dining experiences, alongside craft cocktails and social gathering spaces.

According to the hotel, the venues are intended to become destinations for both local residents and international visitors, reflecting Manila’s increasingly sophisticated food and beverage scene.

Wellness Rooted in Filipino Traditions

An 800-square-metre Spa and Wellness floor will serve as a central feature of the hotel, overlooking the greenery of Ayala Triangle Gardens.

The wellness offering will be anchored by a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool, alongside fitness facilities, yoga spaces and dedicated areas for mindfulness and holistic movement.

Treatment programmes will draw inspiration from traditional Filipino healing practices, including Hilot, a centuries-old therapeutic massage technique, and Sukob ng Manggagamot, which combines herbal remedies, native botanicals and spiritual healing traditions.

These indigenous wellness practices will be reinterpreted through Mandarin Oriental’s contemporary approach to luxury spa experiences.

Designed for Celebrations and Events

The hotel will also position itself as a major destination for weddings, corporate events and social gatherings.

Its largest venue, the Grand Hall, will span 740 square metres and accommodate up to 1,000 guests. The ballroom can be divided into three separate halls and is complemented by a dedicated pre-function area known as The Gallery.

Additional meeting rooms and boardrooms will provide flexible spaces for events of varying sizes, while direct access to Ayala Triangle Gardens will create opportunities for outdoor celebrations and cultural programming.

Opening Offer

To mark its debut, Mandarin Oriental Makati, Manila will introduce a pre-opening package titled Your Home For the Holidays.

Guests booking a minimum two-night stay will receive a limited-edition commemorative festive gift, dining credits for use across the hotel’s restaurants and bars, and enhanced access to the Mandarin Oriental Club Lounge for eligible room categories.

With its return to Manila, Mandarin Oriental is set to re-establish its presence in one of Southeast Asia’s most important gateway cities, bringing a new generation of luxury hospitality to the heart of Makati.
