Turkish Airlines to Launch Flights to Lima, Peru

Turkish Airlines is set to expand its footprint in Latin America with the addition of Lima, Peru, to its route network starting in June 2025. This announcement follows the airline’s recent introduction of flights to Santiago, Chile, as it continues to strengthen its position in the region.

With this new route, Lima will become Turkish Airlines’ tenth destination in Latin America, reflecting the airline’s strategic focus on high-potential markets.

Strategic Move for Growth

The decision to launch flights to Lima aligns with Turkish Airlines’ ongoing growth trajectory. By the end of 2024, the airline expects to operate a fleet of 493 aircraft, connecting passengers to over 350 destinations globally through its Istanbul hub.

Peru’s tourism appeal—highlighted by world-famous attractions such as Cusco and Machu Picchu—positions Lima as a highly attractive destination. As a significant regional hub, Lima is also expected to yield strong profitability for Turkish Airlines by tapping into increasing tourist and business traffic.

Operational Plans

Due to market restrictions, a direct flight between Istanbul and Lima is unlikely at launch. Instead, Turkish Airlines plans to implement a stopover, with São Paulo as the expected intermediate destination. This strategy mirrors the airline’s existing routes to Santiago, Chile, and Bogotá, Colombia, which include similar stopovers to optimize flight occupancy and manage growing demand.
