Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered a management agreement with Veda Hospitality Private Limited, part of the Golyan Group, to open Hyatt Regency Lumbini. Set to be the fourth Hyatt-branded hotel in Nepal, this project underscores the country’s strategic significance within Hyatt’s Southwest Asia growth plans.
Located in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and a revered UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hyatt Regency Lumbini will bring a new level of luxury to this globally cherished destination. Known for its spiritual and cultural richness, Lumbini attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors annually to landmarks like the Mayadevi Temple and the historic Ashoka Pillar, surrounded by expansive gardens, monasteries, and temples that symbolize diverse Buddhist traditions.
Nestled along the Dano River, Hyatt Regency Lumbini will be ideally located, offering easy access to the Mayadevi Temple, Butwal city, the nearby Gautam Buddha International Airport, and the Nepal–India border. Anticipated to open in 2028, the hotel will aim to serve both leisure and business travelers with seamless access to Lumbini’s historical and cultural sites.
“Nepal continues to play a significant role in Hyatt’s growth strategy in the Southwest Asia region, and we look forward to continued collaboration with Golyan Group to bring international standards of hospitality to the province of Lumbini with the Hyatt Regency brand,” said Dhruva Rathore, Hyatt’s Vice President of Development for India & Southwest Asia. He emphasized that “the profound cultural and spiritual appeal of Lumbini…reaffirms Hyatt’s commitment to thoughtfully expanding our brand footprint in destinations preferred by our guests, World of Hyatt members, customers, and owners.”
Akshay Golyan, Managing Director of Golyan Group, shared the local excitement for this project: “Our vision for Hyatt Regency Lumbini is to create a world-class destination that elevates the hospitality experience in Nepal while respecting and promoting the cultural heritage of Lumbini. We believe this hotel will become a landmark in the region and a key contributor to Nepal’s tourism industry.”
The Hyatt Regency Lumbini will offer 175 guest rooms on an 11-acre property, blending contemporary design with elements inspired by local culture. The hotel will include amenities such as fine dining, event and meeting spaces, a modern fitness center, a wellness spa, and an outdoor pool. True to the Hyatt Regency brand’s commitment to fostering community and connection, the hotel is designed to offer both comfort and a sense of cultural immersion.
With an existing portfolio of 52 properties in Southwest Asia, including two Hyatt-branded hotels in Nepal, Hyatt’s expansion in Lumbini aligns with the company’s vision of enhancing its footprint in culturally significant destinations across the region.
