IHG® Hotels & Resorts has entered into a management agreement with Shangri-La Hotel & Resort Group based in Nepal, to establish four new hotels namely InterContinental Kathmandu Lazimpat, Hotel Indigo Pokhara Gharipatan, InterContinental Resort Pokhara Begnas Lake, and InterContinental Resort Chitwan, Meghauli. Through this agreement, IHG is poised to augment its Nepal portfolio with nearly 500 rooms, and introduce two of its world-renowned brands, InterContinental and Hotel Indigo, to the market.
This agreement marks a significant step for IHG in expanding its presence in South-West Asia, with a particular emphasis on the luxury and lifestyle segments. The new hotels are currently under construction and are expected to open within the next one to four years, in highly coveted leisure destinations across Nepal, including Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan.
InterContinental Kathmandu Lazimpat will be redeveloped on the site of the iconic Shangri-la Kathmandu hotel, in a high-profile area close to various embassies, the city centre, and just a 15-minute drive from Tribhuvan International Airport. With 225 luxurious rooms, this hotel will feature all-day dining and specialty restaurants, a lobby lounge, a bar, multiple meeting spaces including a ballroom, a retail store, health and wellness facilities, club lounge, business centre, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, and a swimming pool, catering to both leisure and corporate guests.
Hotel Indigo Pokhara, located in Pokhara’s Gharipatan area, a key commercial and residential hub, will feature 100 rooms, a retail store, health club, spa, club lounge, business centre, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, swimming pool, and two meeting rooms, a ballroom, and a boardroom to cater to MICE demands. There will be a Neighbourhood café, specialty restaurant, lobby lounge, and a bar, making it an ideal destination for families and small groups. Pokhara is a hub for adventure sports, making the hotel a great choice for guests seeking unique activities.
InterContinental Pokhara Begnas Lake will be located along the banks of Begnas Lake in Pokhara, featuring 80 rooms, all-day dining, a lobby lounge, a bar, retail store, health club, spa, club lounge, business centre, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, and a swimming pool. The hotel will be easily accessible from the national highway and Pokhara Airport.
InterContinental Resort Chitwan will be located in the popular tourist destination of Meghauli Village, featuring 80 rooms, all-day dining, a specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge, bars, retail store, health club, spa, business centre, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, and a swimming pool. The resort will cater to leisure guests and is conveniently an hour away from Bharatpur city center and the airport, with close proximity to Chitwan National Park.
