Turkish Airlines to Launch 19 Hours Flight from Istanbul to Melbourne

Turkish Airlines will launch its first flight from Istanbul to Melbourne starting March 15, 2024.

This marks the airline’s inaugural route to Australia, which was not previously part of Turkish Airlines’ network, as reported by Avianews.

The Turkish airline has already obtained the necessary approvals from the Australian government. Melbourne will be the first destination in Australia, chosen due to its significant Turkish diaspora and being one of the country’s major trade centers.

Turkish Airlines plans to operate three flights per week on the Istanbul-Melbourne route. Currently, the airline will have a layover of about one and a half hours in Singapore for refueling, but passengers will not need to change planes during the stopover. The total flight time from Istanbul to Melbourne will be 19 hours and 40 minutes.

Special pricing is available for flights until May 15, 2024, with fares starting from $1199 for a round trip from Istanbul to Melbourne.
