In the Wroclaw railway station, a new space called “Palmiarnia” has been opened, providing travelers with a place to relax surrounded by plants.
Wroclaw’s station was already unique, as it houses the BWA WrocÅ‚aw Contemporary Art Gallery on its premises. However, the administration has now decided to create a new space for gallery visitors and travelers awaiting their trains, according to BWA WrocÅ‚aw.
The “Palm House” is designed as an orangery in palace architecture, consisting of two zones. The first serves as an information point for gallery visitors, featuring a bookshop and souvenir stores. The other is a “lounge area” filled with tropical plants where travelers can relax without the need to make a purchase.
The project was undertaken by designers from the Menthol Architect group, who intentionally chose colors for the orangery that would be harmonious with the main station building. For instance, the green elements resemble the colored vaulting of the main hall, and indigo was taken from the colors of the walls in the Session Hall next to the gallery. The choice of plants was also deliberate, selecting those resilient to temperature variations.
The new space, considered part of the gallery, is located between the floors of the Wroclaw railway station. The “Palm House” is open during the gallery’s operating hours at BWA WrocÅ‚aw: Wednesday-Thursday 12:00-20:00, Friday-Sunday 12:00-18:00.
