Turkish Airlines is set to increase its service between Istanbul and Dushanbe, boosting flights from five times a week to daily operations as demand for air travel between Turkey and Tajikistan continues to grow.
The expansion will take effect on 3 August 2026, according to Turkey’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Umut Acar.
“Starting on August 3, daily Dushanbe–Istanbul flights will be available, further strengthening connectivity between Turkey and Tajikistan,” Acar announced on social media.
Stronger Links Between Turkey and Tajikistan
The move will provide passengers with greater flexibility and improve access between the two countries for tourism, business travel and visiting friends and relatives.
Istanbul serves as one of the world’s largest aviation hubs, offering connections to hundreds of destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas through Turkish Airlines’ extensive network.
For Tajik travelers, the additional frequencies will enhance international connectivity, while also supporting growing economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Tajik Aviation Sector Continues to Expand
The announcement comes as Tajikistan’s aviation industry undergoes a period of significant development.
National carrier Somon Air revealed earlier this year that it expects to receive new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft within the coming months as part of its fleet modernization strategy.
Meanwhile, newly established private airline Shohin Airlines announced in April that it had entered the final stage of acquiring four Airbus A320neo family aircraft, marking a major step toward launching commercial operations.
Market Liberalisation Driving Growth
The expansion of both international and domestic aviation services follows reforms introduced by Tajik authorities in 2025.
Under a new government policy, civil aviation regulators removed a number of market restrictions that had previously limited competition within the sector.
The reforms were designed to encourage new entrants, diversify route networks, improve service quality and create more competitive pricing for passengers.
Industry observers believe the policy changes are helping attract investment into the country’s aviation market while supporting stronger international connectivity.
Positive Outlook for Air Travel
The introduction of daily Turkish Airlines flights, combined with fleet expansion plans by local carriers, signals continued confidence in Tajikistan’s growing aviation market.
As airlines add capacity and new routes, passengers are expected to benefit from increased travel options and improved connectivity to key regional and global destinations.
