The leaders of the mountain resorts Rosa Khutor (Russia), Shymbulak (Kazakhstan), and Amirsay (Uzbekistan) have embarked on a collaborative effort to establish the Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts.
“The aim of this agreement is to create a tourist mountain route that connects the three resorts, thus accelerating the development of domestic tourism within the Eurasian region. The memorandum also entails the organization and hosting of various events such as the Mountain Resorts Festival and the ‘Mountains of Eurasia’ awards, along with other initiatives like the Eurasian Active Journalists Club, the Eurasian Association of Hiking Trails, and the Alliance’s Calendar of Major Sports and Music Festivals,” the announcement states.
The parties involved will establish a platform for the strategic development of domestic tourism within the Eurasian region, foster joint development of Eurasian mountain resorts, facilitate professional networking, and promote the best practices and brands of leading mountain resorts in the industry.
The headquarters of this new alliance will be located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts is open to other countries and participants.
Rosa Khutor is a year-round mountain resort situated 45 km from the Black Sea coast, on the slopes of the Aibga Ridge, extending south from the Main Caucasus Range between the valleys of the Mzymta and Psou rivers.
Shymbulak is a mountain resort located in the Zailiysky Alatau Range. It has been hosting ski competitions since 1950 and features 25 km of slopes with a vertical drop of 903 m.
Amirsay is a mountain resort situated on the slopes of the western part of the Chatkal Range in the Tian Shan Mountains. It offers 16 km of slopes with a vertical drop of 700 m.
