Greece to Unveil Ultra-Luxury Resort on Scorpios Island in 2024

In 2024, Greece is set to unveil one of its most extravagant resorts on Scorpios Island in history, with a price tag to match. A week-long stay at the VIP Exclusive Club will set you back a staggering $1 million. This visionary project, approved by the Greek government in December 2020, is the brainchild of a Russian entrepreneur who aims to transform Scorpios Island into an ultra-luxurious tourist destination that will allure the world’s elite travelers.

The project is also expected to generate more than 100 new job opportunities, as announced in a press release from Greece’s Ministry of Tourism, Development, and Investments.

The entrepreneur behind this venture has spared no expense. The island resort project was meticulously designed by the renowned Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta, known for their work on the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, Europe’s first underwater restaurant, and Le Monde’s headquarters in Paris.

Greek media reports suggest that the billionaire has already invested over 400 million euros in the island, far exceeding the initial budget of 165 million euros. The VIP resort’s infrastructure on the Ionian Sea will include a conference center, sports facilities, a helipad, an orangery, a horse complex, exclusive villas, a new hotel complex, a state-of-the-art SPA center, a vineyard, and a new marina for large yachts.

In a departure from recent events in Turkey, where the historic Kismet resort in KuÅŸadası was demolished, old buildings on Scorpios Island, including the iconic Onassis family’s pink villa, will be preserved. The total developed area on Scorpios will increase by 10,000 square meters. The island will accommodate no more than 50 guests at any given time and will be available for weekly rentals at a rate exceeding 1 million euros.
