NH Collection Taormina has reopened following an extensive renovation that reimagines the five-star hotel while preserving its distinctive identity. The redesign strengthens the property’s connection to Sicily’s cultural heritage, architecture and natural landscapes, creating a more immersive guest experience in one of the island’s most iconic destinations.
Located in the heart of Taormina, just a short walk from the ancient Greek Theatre and Corso Umberto, the hotel overlooks one of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated panoramas, with views stretching from Capo Sant’Alessio and the Bay of Naxos to Mount Etna. Originally built in the early 20th century, NH Collection Taormina remains one of the city’s leading luxury hospitality addresses.
Interior Design Inspired by Sicily
The renovation was led by designer Rodrigo Izquierdo, who drew inspiration from Sicily’s landscapes, architecture and craftsmanship. The new interiors feature a color palette reflecting peach-colored facades, terracotta rooftops, volcanic stone, olive trees and the vibrant red of prickly pears.
Locally inspired materials and handcrafted finishes—including artisan ceramics, natural stone surfaces and bespoke furnishings—blend with contemporary design to create bright, elegant spaces that celebrate the island’s identity.
All 58 guestrooms and suites have been redesigned while retaining the hotel’s refined character. Decorative elements inspired by Sicilian mosaics, ceramics and volcanic stone have been incorporated throughout the accommodations.
Wellness and Event Facilities
The hotel also features the 260-square-meter Fusion SPA, the poolside Lu Souli Lounge Bar, and flexible event and meeting spaces suitable for both corporate gatherings and private celebrations.
Restaurant Zefiro Introduces Contemporary Sicilian Cuisine
One of the highlights of the renovation is the renewed culinary experience at Restaurant Zefiro, where contemporary cuisine showcases Sicily’s finest regional ingredients.
The menu highlights local specialties including Mazara del Vallo red prawns, Avola almonds, Cinisara beef and traditional Sicilian cheeses, combining classic flavors with modern culinary techniques. Desserts reinterpret iconic Sicilian pastries, including a contemporary deconstructed cannolo.
Executive Chef Giuseppe Di Giugno has created two tasting menus—Castelmola and Il Teatro dei Sapori—designed to take guests on a gastronomic journey through the island’s culinary traditions.
During the summer season, Zefiro relocates to the hotel’s panoramic rooftop terrace, offering sweeping views of Taormina, Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea.
