Eurowings Highlights Top ‘Coolcation’ Destinations to Escape Europe’s Heat

As record-breaking temperatures continue to grip much of Europe, Eurowings is promoting a growing travel trend known as the “coolcation” by highlighting seven cooler destinations across Northern Europe where travellers can escape the summer heat.

The German airline said rising temperatures exceeding 40°C in parts of Europe are encouraging more holidaymakers to swap traditional beach destinations for countries offering milder summer climates, fresh air and outdoor experiences.

Seven Cooler Destinations for Summer

Reykjavík, Iceland offers average summer temperatures of between 11°C and 15°C, with visitors able to enjoy geothermal spas, waterfalls, geysers and almost 24 hours of daylight. Eurowings operates seasonal nonstop flights from Düsseldorf.

Tromsø, Norway, located above the Arctic Circle, experiences temperatures between 12°C and 16°C during summer. Visitors can hike, kayak and experience the midnight sun. Flights are available year-round from Düsseldorf, with seasonal services from Hamburg, Berlin and Stuttgart.

Bergen, Norway combines fjords, mountains and historic architecture with average temperatures of 15°C to 16°C. Seasonal nonstop flights operate from Düsseldorf.

Edinburgh, Scotland welcomes visitors with mild temperatures ranging from 15°C to 19°C, making it ideal for exploring the city’s historic centre and nearby Highlands. Eurowings offers nonstop flights from Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart.

Glasgow, Scotland enjoys similar temperatures of 15°C to 19°C and offers a combination of Victorian architecture, museums, live music and easy access to the Scottish Highlands. Seasonal nonstop flights are available from Hanover.

Dublin, Ireland remains pleasantly cool at 15°C to 18°C, with Atlantic breezes, large parks and lively neighbourhoods such as Temple Bar. Eurowings operates direct flights from Düsseldorf and Stuttgart.

Stockholm, Sweden, built across 14 islands, offers average summer temperatures of 20°C to 22°C. The airline said demand for cooler holiday destinations has increased as travellers seek more comfortable summer conditions while continuing to enjoy outdoor activities, sightseeing and nature.
