A Eurowings flight from Alicante to Berlin was forced to land in Hanover due to a night flight ban, after arriving just ten seconds too late. The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 27th, when the flight departed from Alicante to the German capital with a delay of approximately one hour.
As the aircraft approached Berlin and began its descent, it suddenly ascended again and diverted to Hanover, nearly 300 kilometers away from its intended destination. This unexpected detour left 212 passengers to find their own way to Berlin, according to Tagesspiegel.
Berlin enforces a night flight ban starting at 11:30 PM. However, there is an exception for delayed flights, allowing them to land until midnight. Air traffic control had already cleared the runway for the Alicante flight, but it missed the cutoff by mere seconds.
Eurowings has stated that they will cover the expenses incurred by passengers traveling from Hanover to Berlin.
