IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its luxury presence in Türkiye with the opening of InterContinental Grand Ankara, a landmark property created through the extensive transformation of the historic Grand Ankara Hotel.
The opening marks the arrival of the InterContinental brand in Türkiye’s capital and strengthens IHG‘s luxury portfolio in one of the country’s most important diplomatic and business centres.
A Historic Hotel Enters a New Era
The property occupies the former Grand Ankara Hotel, which first opened its doors in 1966 and has long been regarded as one of the capital’s most recognisable hospitality landmarks.
Following a comprehensive redevelopment, the hotel now operates under the InterContinental brand while preserving its prominent position within Ankara’s cityscape.
Located in the heart of the diplomatic and government district, the hotel offers convenient access to key attractions including the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Anıtkabir and Ankara Castle. Esenboğa Airport is approximately 40 minutes away by car.
342 Rooms and Extended-Stay Residences
InterContinental Grand Ankara features 342 guestrooms and suites designed for both business and leisure travellers.
The property also introduces Luxury Apartment Suites aimed at longer stays, offering fully equipped kitchens, spacious living areas and residential-style comforts.
Dining Led by Award-Winning Chef
The hotel’s culinary offering is anchored by LOQQANTA 06, led by Gault&Millau award-winning chef Emre İnanır.
The restaurant aims to showcase contemporary gastronomy while reflecting the flavours and culinary traditions of Türkiye.
Guests can also enjoy drinks and informal meetings at The Lobby Bar, which serves as a social gathering point within the hotel.
Wellness and Events Facilities
A major highlight of the property is its 1,500-square-metre wellness centre, which includes both indoor and outdoor swimming pools alongside a comprehensive spa offering.
The hotel is also positioned as a major meetings and events destination, featuring three ballrooms capable of hosting up to 1,200 guests and 15 dedicated meeting rooms.
The extensive event facilities are expected to appeal to government, corporate and international organisations operating in the capital.
Second InterContinental Hotel in Türkiye
The opening makes InterContinental Grand Ankara the second InterContinental property in Türkiye, joining the long-established InterContinental Istanbul.
Globally, the InterContinental brand operates more than 240 hotels across 70 countries and continues to expand its luxury portfolio through new openings in key international destinations.
Recent additions include InterContinental The Red Sea Resort in Saudi Arabia, while IHG is also preparing to launch its first Kimpton property in Dubai in 2026 as part of its broader luxury and lifestyle growth strategy across the Middle East and Europe.
