InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is bringing its legacy of luxury to one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders with the opening of InterContinental Halong Bay Resort in northern Vietnam. Nestled within the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of emerald waters and limestone peaks, the resort marks a new chapter for the brand’s expansion across Asia.
“InterContinental has been hosting guests for almost 80 years in every corner of the world. We are incredibly proud to extend this ethos to the shores of Ha Long Bay,” said Jesper Larsen, General Manager of the resort. “Here, the serenity of the sea meets Vietnamese hospitality. We invite guests to be immersed in the familiarities of InterContinental while discovering the magic of this enchanting part of Vietnam.”
The resort features 275 rooms, suites, and villas, each framed by views of green islands and the turquoise sea. Designed by WATG, the architecture blends Ha Long’s coastal heritage with contemporary elegance, weaving in tales of dragons and the sea. Interiors by P49Deesign take inspiration from Vietnam’s traditional bamboo basket boats, while splashes of turquoise, brass accents, and iridescent textures evoke marine life and rippling waters.
Culinary journey across six venues
Guests can explore six dining venues celebrating global and local flavors. The soon-to-open Roku & Star Bar, located on the 10th floor, will showcase Japanese artistry through six classic techniques—from sashimi and sushi to grilled yakimono and simmered nimono—complemented by a curated Sake Library and a dramatic bamboo installation inspired by the legend of Ha Long’s descending dragon.
Other highlights include Marina Kitchen, serving modern coastal cuisine; La Baguette, a French-Vietnamese bistro; Del Mar, a poolside lounge modeled on Cửa Vạn’s floating village; and Vue, a bright lobby lounge offering cocktails and afternoon tea overlooking the bay.
Wellness and family discovery
The resort’s Hidden Lagoon Spa collaborates with Margaret Dabbs London and Sodashi Australia to deliver soothing treatments inspired by the tranquility of the bay. Guests can enjoy facial rituals, sensory therapies, beach volleyball, outdoor archery, and three swimming pools.
For younger travelers, Planet Trekkers kids’ club welcomes children aged 4–12 with creative, cultural workshops like conical hat painting and candle making, while The Game Room offers billiards, air hockey, gaming, and cinema experiences for families.
A new icon for modern luxury
With grand ballrooms for celebrations, cutting-edge meeting spaces, and panoramic sea views, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort sets a new standard for coastal luxury in Vietnam. The opening reflects the brand’s continued transformation, reimagining the modern luxury experience for globally minded travelers.
Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury & lifestyle portfolio, which includes more than 231 InterContinental properties worldwide (seven in Vietnam), the launch comes as the brand approaches its 80th anniversary in 2026—a milestone underscoring InterContinental’s enduring belief that travel can connect cultures and expand horizons.
