Swiss International Air Lines will suspend flights between Geneva and Pristina for the upcoming 2026/27 winter season, which begins on October 25, as the airline continues to grapple with aircraft and engine availability issues affecting its Airbus A220 fleet.
The carrier confirmed that the route will be discontinued throughout the winter schedule, with the final flight currently planned for October 24. Swiss also announced the suspension of services from Geneva to Berlin and Hamburg as part of broader network adjustments.
Explaining the decision, Swiss said the cuts were driven by ongoing global supply chain constraints impacting maintenance and spare parts availability for its Airbus A220 aircraft.
“The cessation of these services has been prompted by the continuing limited availability worldwide of aircraft and engine parts for the Swiss Airbus A220 fleet. Swiss is modifying its services from Geneva accordingly, to further strengthen overall fleet planning and operational stability”, the airline said.
It remains unclear whether the Geneva-Pristina route will return for the 2027 summer season. However, the airline indicated that the current changes apply specifically to the winter timetable.
Last winter, Swiss operated two weekly flights between Geneva and Pristina, serving both point-to-point leisure demand and diaspora traffic between Switzerland and Kosovo.
Despite the suspension, passengers travelling between the two cities will continue to have alternative options. GP Aviation and easyJet are expected to maintain operations on the route during the winter season.
The move reflects broader operational pressures facing European airlines as aircraft delivery delays, maintenance bottlenecks and engine-related inspections continue to constrain fleet availability ahead of the 2026/27 winter scheduling period.
