Minor Hotels announces a new and significant step forward in its growth strategy in Africa with the signing of two NH Collection Hotels & Resorts hotels: NH Collection Pemba Island Resort in Tanzania and NH Collection Accra in Ghana.
The new openings, scheduled for 2030, add to the already operational NH Johannesburg Sandton, consolidating the Group’s commitment to developing high-end hospitality in Africa’s most promising markets.
NH Collection Accra: Debut in West Africa
Located in the heart of Accra, Ghana’s capital and economic hub, the new 200-room hotel will be housed in a modern complex and offer convenient access to the main government, corporate, and diplomatic districts. The property will be close to Jubilee House and a short distance from Kotoka International Airport. The agreement was signed at THINC Middle East 2026, confirming Minor Hotels’ expansion strategy in Africa’s key gateway cities.
The project is being developed by Swami India Ghana Limited, a real estate group with extensive experience in West Africa and the Middle East. The complex will include, in addition to the hotel, retail and office space, aiming to create a new, dynamic and integrated urban destination. With a concept that combines elegance and comfort, NH Collection Accra will respond to the growing demand generated by the city’s economic development and international connectivity, targeting corporate and diplomatic clientele interested in long-term stays.
“We are delighted to introduce the NH Collection brand to Ghana – one of the most dynamic and promising markets in West Africa – and are thrilled to partner with Swami India Ghana Limited to bring this project to life,” said Amir Golbarg, Chief Operations Officer Middle East & Africa at Minor Hotels.
Dinesh G. Gorasiya, Chairman of Swami India Ghana Limited, added: “The signing of NH Collection Accra represents an important milestone in our company’s growth journey, as we strive to develop projects that meet the highest international standards. The debut of Minor Hotels in West Africa reflects our strategic vision of premium hospitality properties, aligned with global benchmarks and capable of making a tangible contribution to Ghana’s economic growth. We are confident that NH Collection Accra will strengthen the city’s position as a leading destination for business and leisure, enhancing quality and promoting responsible development.”
NH Collection Pemba Island Resort: upper-upscale hospitality in the Zanzibar archipelago
Born from a long-standing partnership with Infinity Developments—owner of Anantara Zanzibar Resort & Residences, an exclusive ultra-luxury property currently under construction—this new project demonstrates the shared desire to further elevate hospitality standards in the region. The opening marks the strategic entry of the NH Collection brand into the Zanzibar archipelago and strengthens Minor Hotels’ growing presence in East Africa.
Located a short distance from Pemba Airport, the resort—with 145 guest rooms, suites, and villas—will ensure easy connections to both Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam, while preserving the island’s exclusive character and sustainable tourism model. NH Collection Pemba Island Resort will offer several dining outlets and spaces dedicated to events and the MICE segment, combining contemporary design and enhancing the natural setting, creating a refined yet informal experience, designed for leisure travelers seeking authenticity and immersive experiences.
“The introduction of the NH Collection brand in Tanzania, with our first property on Pemba Island, represents a significant step in strengthening our presence in the Indian Ocean, while also consolidating our partnership with Infinity Developments. The island’s pristine beauty and growing interest from experience-oriented travelers make it an ideal destination for the brand,” commented Amir Golbarg.
“Following the success of our collaboration on Anantara Zanzibar, we are thrilled to work again with Minor Hotels to bring the NH Collection brand to our country. This project combines sustainable design and strong international positioning, helping to strengthen Zanzibar’s appeal as a global destination,” concluded Samuel Saba, Founder of Infinity Developments.
The signing of NH Collection Pemba Island Resort confirms Minor Hotels’ commitment to expanding its portfolio in high-potential African markets and its confidence in the dynamism of Tanzania’s tourism sector.
