Public transport operators across Spain’s Valencian and Castellón Community are warning travelers to prepare for major disruption after the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued an orange alert for Saturday, February 14.
Authorities say the storm could cause widespread mobility problems, including delays, cancellations, and operational issues across rail, air, and local transit networks.
Renfe warns against unnecessary travel
Spain’s national rail operator Renfe has advised passengers to avoid “unnecessary travel” within the Valencian Community, citing storm impacts on rail infrastructure and conditions on the tracks.
The operator has already reported cancellations and service disruptions, with further changes expected as weather conditions intensify.
Alicante-Elche Airport issues emergency notice
The storm is also affecting air travel. Alicante-Elche Airport issued an emergency message warning that weather conditions could disrupt operations.
Airport operator Aena has cautioned that delays may spread across its network, with flights potentially facing cancellations, diversions, or arrival disruptions.
Passengers have been advised to check flight status before traveling to the airport.
Alicante Tram suspends special night service
In Alicante, the local tram network has also announced changes. The extraordinary night service that had been planned for the “Ramblero Saturday” celebrations, scheduled overnight from February 14 to 15, has been suspended due to storm conditions.
With severe weather expected across the region, transport operators are urging residents and tourists to monitor official updates closely throughout the day.
