Brownsover Hall Hotel to Reopen After Landmark Restoration

Brownsover Hall Hotel in Warwickshire is set to reopen next month, marking the completion of a multi-million pound restoration that signals a new chapter for one of Rugby’s most historic estates. The Grade-II listed property, acquired by The Distinct Group in September 2024, has undergone a complete redesign ahead of its reopening on 6 December.

The revived look draws on the hotel’s Victorian Gothic roots, pairing period elegance with a clean, contemporary British aesthetic. The main house offers 28 bedrooms, alongside modern brasserie Scotts, Franks Bar and the estate’s tearoom, Boughton’s. Distinct Group’s acquisition also included an additional four acres of land, consolidating full ownership of the original eleven-acre grounds.

Built in the 19th century and designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, the mansion’s architectural heritage has shaped the restoration approach. Interiors have been reimagined with a focus on artistry and heritage storytelling, while the food and beverage concepts anchor the property’s new identity.

The redevelopment is being delivered in two phases. With phase one complete, the second stage is already in progress and will focus on the coach house and stable block. The remaining 21 bedrooms across those buildings will be fully restored and brought back into operation in the first quarter of 2026, completing the estate’s full accommodation offering.

Gareth Leakey, managing director of Distinct Group Ltd, described the reopening as a milestone for both the business and the local community. He emphasised the team’s investment in authenticity and excellence, noting that every detail – from the design language to the culinary direction – was crafted to honour the estate’s history while elevating the guest experience.

Distinct Group’s growing portfolio also includes Hotel Cromwell Stevenage and The Bedford Swan Hotel and Thermal Spa, positioning the company as an increasingly influential presence in the UK’s historic hotel sector.

The reopening of Brownsover Hall Hotel signals not just a restoration, but a reintroduction of the estate as a refined country retreat shaped for modern travellers, with its next phase set to expand its offering well into 2026.
