Le Gratin Opens Near the Louvre with Classic Parisian Bistro Cuisine

Paris restaurateur Michel Puech has opened Le Gratin, a new bistro overlooking Place de Valois, just steps from the Palais-Royal and the Louvre Museum.

The restaurant occupies the former Bistrot de Valois, bringing fresh energy to the historic address while embracing the timeless atmosphere of a traditional Parisian bistro.

Classic Bistro Setting

Le Gratin features many of the design elements associated with classic French dining, including crisp white tablecloths, red banquette seating, and an inviting neighborhood atmosphere.

The opening expands Michel Puech’s growing portfolio of Paris restaurants, which includes Biche, Margaux, Blandine, Pastis, and Clos.

French Classics and Signature Dishes

The menu celebrates traditional French cuisine with a selection of well-known bistro favorites. Starters include devilled eggs with mayonnaise and garlic parsley frog legs, while main courses feature dishes such as sole meunière.

Desserts include classic chocolate mousse served by the spoon, staying true to the restaurant’s generous approach to French comfort food.

Alongside these staples, Le Gratin also offers signature specialties including its cordon bleu, recently recognized as the Best Cordon Bleu in Paris, and a rich lobster gratin.

All-Day Dining in Central Paris

Le Gratin is open daily from noon until midnight, serving lunch, dinner, and late-evening guests in one of Paris’ most historic neighborhoods.

Located within walking distance of the Louvre and Palais-Royal, the restaurant aims to combine the enduring appeal of the traditional Parisian bistro with a contemporary dining experience that celebrates classic French cuisine without relying on nostalgia.
