Club Med and VICI Properties have officially broken ground on Club Med St. Croix, marking the start of construction on the all-inclusive resort and the hospitality brand’s return to the United States.
Scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2027, the resort will become Club Med’s only property in U.S. territory and represents a significant milestone for the company, which pioneered the all-inclusive resort concept more than 75 years ago.
Construction Officially Begins
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on the future resort site in St. Croix and was hosted by Club Med President and CEO Stéphane Maquaire and Club Med North America and the Caribbean President and CEO Carolyne Doyon.
The event also brought together executives from VICI Properties, local government officials, and members of the U.S. Virgin Islands Legislature to celebrate the official start of the development.
Traditional steel pan performances of the U.S. and Virgin Islands anthems welcomed attendees before representatives from Club Med, VICI Properties, and local authorities participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking.
Return to the U.S. Market
Club Med St. Croix will mark the company’s return to American soil and will be its only resort in the United States when it opens.
The development represents a new chapter for the global hospitality brand, which operates nearly 60 all-inclusive resorts across destinations in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, the Americas, Africa, and the Indian Ocean.
Economic Investment for St. Croix
Government leaders described the project as an important investment for the island and the wider U.S. Virgin Islands, highlighting its expected contribution to tourism, employment, and economic development.
Remarks during the ceremony were delivered by Senate President Milton Potter and Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach on behalf of Governor Albert Bryan Jr., emphasizing the significance of attracting a globally recognized hospitality brand to St. Croix.
Opening Planned for 2027
Developed in partnership with VICI Properties, Club Med St. Croix is expected to welcome its first guests in 2027, expanding the company’s North American presence while strengthening the U.S. Virgin Islands’ position as a Caribbean tourism destination.
The project also reflects continued investment in the all-inclusive resort sector, with Club Med positioning the new property as a key addition to its global portfolio of premium leisure destinations.
