A new chapter in luxury cruising has just been announced, and it carries the unmistakable signature of Oceania Cruises. The line, long celebrated for its culinary excellence and intimate approach to travel, has revealed Oceania Sonata – the first ship in an entirely new Sonata Class set to redefine the brand’s future. Scheduled to debut in 2027, the vessel represents a confident expansion of what travelers already cherish about Oceania: refined spaces, elegant service and a deep devotion to exceptional cuisine.
Oceania Sonata will become the ninth ship in the fleet when she launches in August 2027, carrying 1,390 guests in an environment designed to feel both uplifting and serene. The new class places a strong emphasis on space and comfort, with 30 percent of all accommodations designed as suites and every stateroom offering a private veranda. The ship will introduce two all-new suite categories, along with redesigned Owner’s Suites that elevate the brand’s residential aesthetic.
True to Oceania Cruises’ identity, the vessel has been envisioned as a celebration of gastronomy. Sonata will feature ten culinary experiences, including beloved dining rooms such as Jacques, Red Ginger, Toscana and Polo Grill, while unveiling new concepts that will be revealed in the months ahead. The ship continues the brand’s legacy of offering The Finest Cuisine at Sea, a hallmark that remains central to its identity.
Designed as a symphony of grand spaces and intimate enclaves, Oceania Sonata blends light-filled, social areas with tranquil retreats meant for quiet moments at sea. The architectural vision reflects the brand’s evolution toward even more spacious, amenity-rich environments without losing the intimacy its guests value.
Currently being built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the same team behind Marina, Riviera, Vista and Allura, the new vessel will measure approximately 86,000 gross tons and be staffed by 855 officers and crew. Its debut signals a new era of onboard possibilities, with Oceania promising more announcements about new dining venues and never-before-seen experiences ahead of its inaugural season.
Travelers eager to follow the ship’s development can preregister for updates ahead of the 2027 launch. With Oceania Sonata, the brand is setting the tone for the next decade of luxury cruising – one driven by culinary artistry, immersive travel and a refined sense of discovery at sea.
