This winter, Bloomsbury welcomes a new chapter of refined hospitality with the opening of Bertrand’s Townhouse, a 43-room boutique hotel from Siggis Capital, the privately owned London-based investment firm.

The project, first unveiled in 2023 under SAV Capital, transforms the former Grange Lancaster hotel into a vibrant blend of heritage and modern luxury, echoing the creative spirit of the district it calls home.

A townhouse of texture and character

Inside, Bertrand’s Townhouse celebrates the elegant eccentricity of Bloomsbury with heritage details—from decorative fireplaces and original cornicing to statement artwork and bold prints. Each bedroom combines natural wood tones, brass fixtures, and rich fabrics with Diptyque amenities and rainfall showers, while select suites feature freestanding bathtubs for long, quiet evenings.

The design reflects both craftsmanship and comfort — a modern townhouse with the soul of old London.

Ottie’s Salon and The Cigar Garden

At the heart of the hotel lies Ottie’s Salon, a day-to-night gathering space that shifts from pastry-and-coffee mornings to an intimate speakeasy by evening. Guests can expect smooth jazz, old-world cocktails, and a curated wine and Champagne list — a nod to Bloomsbury’s bohemian past.

Outdoors, The Cigar Garden invites conversation and repose amid natural stone, rich wood, and lush greenery. Vintage trolley stations display an artful collection of whiskies, spirits, and cigars, evoking the ambience of a private London club.

Named after Bertrand Russell, 3rd Earl Russell — philosopher, writer, and a central figure of the famed Bloomsbury Set — the townhouse pays quiet homage to the area’s legacy of art, intellect, and conversation.
