Niagara Falls has always been about awe—standing at the brink, feeling the thunder of Horseshoe Falls, watching mist rise into the sky. But starting August 29, visitors can experience the natural wonder in a way never before possible: from the sky itself.
Inside Niagara Parks’ flagship Table Rock Centre, steps from the roaring cascade, a new multi-sensory attraction called Niagara Takes Flight invites guests to see the region through the eyes of a bird. Using custom-built drones, a 17-metre-wide dome screen, gondola-style seating, and special effects from wind to mist, the ride simulates a 56-kilometre journey over Niagara’s rivers, forests, and landscapes across four seasons.
It’s no coincidence that Disney Imagineer Rick Rothschild—best known as the creative force behind Soarin’ Over California—served as Creative Director for the $25 million project. From takeoff to landing, the ride blends thrill and storytelling, immersing visitors not just in the sights of Niagara but in its spirit.
The experience begins before guests even take flight. Passing through four audiovisual storytelling rooms, visitors trace 13,000 years of Niagara’s history—from Indigenous creation stories brought to life by Mohawk Nation artist Sara General, to narration by filmmaker James Cameron, who grew up in the Falls and once worked for Niagara Parks as a teenager. “This closed the loop, 55 years later,” Cameron reflected, calling it an honor to give voice to his hometown’s history.
With admission priced at $29 for adults and $19 for children, Niagara Takes Flight is included in bundled passes like the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass. The attraction runs daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., making it easy for travelers to fit into their itinerary.
Officials are calling it a transformative moment for Niagara tourism, one that pairs cutting-edge technology with the destination’s timeless natural beauty. “Niagara Takes Flight offers guests the extraordinary sensation of soaring above Niagara Falls, an unparalleled experience that sets this attraction apart on the global stage,” said Brogent Technologies CEO Chih-Hung Ouyang.
For anyone who’s stood at the edge of the Falls and wondered what it might feel like to soar above, this is Niagara like you’ve never seen it—sweeping, cinematic, and unforgettable.
