Japan Prepares to Lift All Entry Restrictions

Japan announced the lifting of covid restrictions on entry into the country from May 8.

Japan’s Foreign Ministry has announced plans to lift COVID-19 entry restrictions from May 8, including requirements for presenting vaccination certificates and PCR tests for COVID-19.

At the same time, from May 8, a procedure tentatively called “genomic surveillance of infectious diseases” will be launched, the purpose of which will be to monitor the epidemic situation and the influx of new infections from abroad.

Today, when entering Japan, you must provide a certificate of vaccination with three doses of WHO-approved anti-COVID-19 drugs or a certificate of a negative coronavirus test made 72 hours before departure to Japan. From May 8, it will probably no longer be necessary to present any of this.
