SAS and Aerolíneas Argentinas have signed a new codeshare agreement that will significantly expand travel options between Scandinavia and Argentina through their combined networks.
The partnership brings together two members of the SkyTeam alliance and will offer passengers simplified connections between Northern Europe and South America through key gateways in Spain and Italy.
Expanded Connections Via Madrid And Rome
Under the agreement, Aerolíneas Argentinas will place its AR flight code on SAS-operated services connecting Madrid and Rome with the Scandinavian capitals of Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.
In return, SAS will place its SK code on Aerolíneas Argentinas’ long-haul routes linking Buenos Aires with Madrid and Rome.
The arrangement will provide travelers with new one-stop travel options between Scandinavia and Argentina while allowing passengers to book journeys across both airlines on a single itinerary.
Seamless Travel Experience
The codeshare agreement is designed to simplify international travel by enabling passengers to travel on a single ticket, complete one check-in process and check baggage directly through to their final destination.
The cooperation also strengthens connectivity throughout the broader SkyTeam alliance network.
One of the most notable itinerary possibilities highlighted by the airlines is the ability to travel from Ushuaia, widely recognized as the world’s southernmost commercial airport, to Longyearbyen in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago, one of the northernmost commercial aviation destinations, under a single integrated journey.
Strengthening Scandinavia-South America Links
“This partnership marks an exciting step forward for SAS as we continue strengthening our global reach together with trusted SkyTeam partners,” said Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.
He noted that the agreement not only improves connectivity but also strengthens links between two regions that share growing cultural and economic ties.
Fabián Lombardo, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas, said the partnership will allow the airline to continue expanding its international network while offering passengers additional travel options to Northern Europe through a strategic alliance partner.
Loyalty Benefits For Frequent Flyers
As members of the SkyTeam alliance, both airlines will extend reciprocal benefits to eligible travelers.
Passengers with SkyPriority status will continue to receive priority services across the combined network, while members of SAS EuroBonus and Aerolíneas Plus will be able to earn and redeem loyalty points on participating flights.
The new codeshare partnership is expected to take effect during the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
