SAS and Garuda Indonesia have signed a new codeshare agreement that will significantly expand travel options between Scandinavia and Indonesia through combined networks and coordinated connections.
The agreement, signed during the IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, strengthens cooperation between the two SkyTeam members and opens new routing opportunities between Northern Europe and Southeast Asia.
New Connections Via Amsterdam, Tokyo And Bangkok
The partnership will create new one-ticket itineraries connecting Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo with Jakarta and Bali.
Passengers will initially connect through Amsterdam and Tokyo Haneda, while Bangkok will join the network as an additional transfer point from the Winter 2026/2027 schedule.
The expanded routing options are designed to improve connectivity between Scandinavia and one of Asia’s fastest-growing travel markets.
Bali And Jakarta Become More Accessible For Scandinavian Travelers
For SAS customers, the partnership provides easier access to Indonesia’s two largest international gateways.
Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia passengers gain improved access to Scandinavia through SAS hubs in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
SAS CEO Anko van der Werff described Indonesia as one of Asia’s most dynamic markets and said the agreement would create stronger links between businesses, communities and travelers.
Frequent Flyer Benefits Included
The agreement also includes reciprocal loyalty benefits.
Members of SAS EuroBonus and GarudaMiles will be able to earn and redeem points across both airlines’ networks.
Codeshare tickets officially go on sale from June 9, with the first eligible travel dates beginning June 15.
SkyTeam Continues Expanding Network Cooperation
The partnership highlights increasing cooperation within SkyTeam as airlines seek stronger global connectivity without launching entirely new routes.
For both airlines, the agreement strengthens access between Europe and Southeast Asia while giving passengers more flexible routing options across multiple hubs.
