Police in Belfast have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following what authorities described as a brutal knife attack that left another man seriously injured.
The incident occurred in north Belfast at approximately 10:30pm on Monday. The suspect, believed to be a man in his 30s, remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Victim Hospitalized With Serious Injuries
According to police, the victim, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries during the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officials said his condition remains serious, though further details about his injuries have not been released.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the attack.
Video Shows Members Of Public Intervening
Videos circulating on social media appear to show several members of the public confronting the alleged attacker before police arrived at the scene.
Footage shows a group of individuals attempting to restrain the suspect, including one person carrying what appeared to be a hurling stick.
Witnesses reportedly intervened until officers reached the location and took the suspect into custody.
