The World’s Best Airline Brings Doha and Its On-Board Experience Into the Fortnite Universe

The world’s best airline is stepping into one of the world’s most influential gaming platforms. Qatar Airways has unveiled QVerse Island in Fortnite, marking its first-ever digital destination inside the global gaming phenomenon and offering young travellers and gamers an immersive new way to experience Doha before they ever book a flight.

Reimagining the Qatari capital in a fully interactive environment, QVerse Island invites players to explore the city through mission-based gameplay, competitive challenges, and hidden rewards. The experience begins at Hamad International Airport, where players are introduced to Sama, Qatar Airways’ digital cabin crew member and virtual guide. From there, the island opens up to a stylised version of Doha, including recognisable spaces such as The ORCHARD and other iconic attractions woven into the gameplay.

Players navigate the island alongside Sama, completing adventurous challenges while uncovering hidden golden tickets scattered across the map. These unlock the chance to win exclusive Qatar Airways travel rewards, including flights, blurring the line between virtual play and real-world travel incentives. The island also allows users to compete and interact alongside well-known gaming content creators, reinforcing Fortnite’s social-first ecosystem.

Sama’s role extends beyond a simple in-game character. Already a prominent digital figure across Qatar Airways’ platforms, she serves as a connective thread between the airline’s broader digital strategy, including its immersive QVerse web experience, interactive brand storytelling, and experiential activations. Her presence inside Fortnite strengthens brand continuity while introducing the airline to a younger, digitally native audience.

The launch reflects a wider shift in how travel intent is formed. Increasingly, inspiration is driven not just by traditional advertising or search, but by social media, creators, and immersive digital environments. By placing Doha directly inside Fortnite, Qatar Airways is positioning itself at the earliest stage of the travel decision journey, turning virtual exploration into tangible future trips.

QVerse Island also complements the airline’s investment in next-generation on-board technology. Qatar Airways continues to expand its rollout of Starlink connectivity, now operating more than 120 Starlink-enabled widebody aircraft. With speeds of up to 500 Mbps, passengers can access faster-than-home Wi-Fi across an expanding network of routes spanning six continents, including much of the Americas and Australia, as well as major destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Together, QVerse Island, Sama, and Starlink underline Qatar Airways’ ambition to create a seamless, digitally intuitive travel experience that starts long before take-off. By merging gaming, virtual exploration, and real-world rewards, the airline is signalling a future where discovering a destination can begin in a digital universe and end at 35,000 feet.
