Qatar Airways Restarts Iraq Flights as Regional Network Rebuilds

Qatar Airways is continuing the phased restoration of its Middle East network, announcing the resumption of passenger flights to Iraq with services to Baghdad, Basra and Erbil set to restart on May 10, 2026.

In parallel, the airline will reintroduce cargo operations to Baghdad from May 7, strengthening freight capacity and supporting regional supply chains as connectivity returns.

The move is part of a broader network recovery strategy, with Qatar Airways gradually reinstating routes across the Middle East and beyond. The airline has already confirmed the return of daily passenger services to Dubai and Sharjah, as well as to Manama, Damascus and Kozhikode.

As part of this expansion, the carrier expects its global network to grow to more than 150 destinations across six continents from June 16, reflecting a continued recovery in international air travel demand.

Industry analysts say the return of services to Iraq is particularly significant, restoring critical links for both passengers and cargo in a market where connectivity has been limited in recent years.

Qatar Airways has advised passengers to check its official channels for updates, noting that flight schedules remain subject to change due to operational, regulatory and safety considerations.

The latest announcements underscore the airline’s strategy of steadily rebuilding its global footprint while reinforcing its role as a key connector between the Middle East and international markets.
