Egypt has increased the cost of entry visas from $25 to $45 (from approximately 1,900 to 3,500 rubles) starting December 1. The decree was signed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on November 30.
The decision has already drawn criticism from representatives of the travel industry. The Federation of Tourist Chambers of Egypt expressed concern that the country’s competitiveness may decline and that tourist arrivals could decrease. In 2024, Egypt welcomed about 15.7 million international visitors.
The last time Egypt raised visa fees was more than ten years ago, in May 2014, when the price increased from $15 to $25.
