Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has unveiled its 2025–2026 winter traffic program, featuring a significant expansion of routes and frequencies from Copenhagen. The new schedule strengthens the Danish capital’s position as Northern Europe’s leading aviation hub, enhancing connectivity across Scandinavia, Europe, North America, and Asia.
According to Henrik Winell, Vice President Network at SAS, the upcoming season marks a milestone for the airline’s optimized network strategy. “We are entering the first winter season with an optimized network setup. The results are clear: higher connectivity, better schedules, and even stronger offerings for our customers across the Nordics and beyond. With new destinations, extended routes, and more frequent service, we continue to build our position as the leading carrier in Northern Europe,” Winell said.
New Routes And Extended Destinations
The winter program introduces two new year-round routes – Copenhagen to Vienna, operated twice daily, and Copenhagen to Tel Aviv, flying twice weekly. Additionally, SAS is adding five new seasonal winter leisure destinations: Marrakech, Funchal, Fuerteventura, Kittilä, and Turin.
In total, 19 of the summer 2025 routes will continue operating throughout the winter, including Nordic destinations like Billund and Turku, European favorites such as Budapest, Lyon, and Krakow, and long-haul services to Seoul and Toronto.
40 Percent More Winter Seats
With a 40 percent increase in available seats compared to last winter, SAS is offering 55 percent more connected destinations and 75 percent more transfer options through Copenhagen. The expanded network allows for smooth same-day connections between Northern and Central Europe and improved links between Europe and intercontinental markets in North America and Asia.
This enhanced connectivity is supported by SAS’s industry-leading operational performance. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, the airline ranks among the most punctual carriers in both Europe and the world – a key advantage for travelers relying on efficient connections through its Copenhagen hub.
Strengthening Copenhagen As A Global Hub
With this expansion, SAS continues to reinforce Copenhagen’s role as a gateway between the Nordics and the world. The increased frequencies, new destinations, and improved transfer options reflect the airline’s ambition to offer greater flexibility for both business and leisure travelers while maintaining its focus on reliability and schedule efficiency.
