Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced a major expansion of its partnership with Virgin Atlantic, opening the door for Scandinavian travelers to reach more long-haul destinations with ease.
Under the new agreement, SAS will place its ‘SK’ code on select Virgin Atlantic flights from London Heathrow, granting passengers smooth connections to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai, and Malé in the Maldives—with more destinations on the horizon.
Customers can now enjoy coordinated flight schedules and the convenience of booking these global routes directly through SAS, offering a streamlined travel experience for both leisure and business passengers.
“This expanded codeshare with Virgin Atlantic strengthens SAS’ offering by opening up more options to popular destinations,” said Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS. “By placing our code on Virgin Atlantic flights, we make it easier for our customers to connect seamlessly through London Heathrow.”
Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen, echoed the enthusiasm:
“We’re delighted to deepen our partnership with SAS through this expansion. It means more customers can enjoy seamless connections through London Heathrow to incredible destinations like Dubai, the Maldives, and South Africa, all with Virgin Atlantic’s renowned premium experience.”
The two airlines first launched their bilateral codeshare in October 2024, marking SAS’s integration into the SkyTeam alliance.
The new codeshare flights are available for booking starting October 6, with travel beginning October 8 — just in time for the winter travel season and the growing demand for warm-weather getaways.
